Auto industry torn over artificial intelligence in cyber security

Ericsson VP says AI will be the only defence against future cyber attacks. While AI can help combat some challenges, others need a different approach to protect vehicles fully, writes Cat Dow

Cyber security experts are facing a new kind of threat. Recently, Jason Hoffman, VP of Cloud Infrastructure at Ericsson, said, “Ironically and unfortunately, some of the people who are becoming most advanced when it comes to artificial intelligence in the security world are the ones on the offensive…”

Though Hoffman makes a valid point about the weaponisation of data science, he goes on to suggest that AI is the only remedy. Other security experts, however, argue that
