Magna pursuing ‘open innovation’ to reach new heights of safety

The supplier has launched a public contest to develop innovative approaches to vehicle safety. By Freddie Holmes

In an effort to broaden its horizons, Magna has challenged innovators to develop ‘groundbreaking’ ideas that can improve vehicle safety. The ‘Innovation for the Open Road: Safer Mobility for the Future’ contest calls for everyday commuters, inventors and creators to share ideas that could create a safer environment for drivers, passengers and pedestrians.

The contest is launching in the US and will then ‘likely’ move on to other regions. As Ian Simmons, Vice President of Business Development and Corporate Engineering for Magna International, told Automotive World: “We are committed to an open innovation mindset and will continue to engage with a global audience on future challenges.”
