The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has reduced its automotive production forecast for the current financial year by a percentage point. It now expects output to grow by 9.6%. CMIE attributes this move to a persistent higher interest rate, increase in taxes, and the resultant increase in vehicle prices.
