The first field trials of a 12-metre electric bus charged wirelessly by induction are currently underway in the Netherlands. The IPT (Inductive Power Transfer) charging technology allows the electric bus, converted from a Volvo diesel bus, to run reliably for 18 hours, covering some 288km a day, without the need to stop for prolonged periods or return to the depot to recharge.
