Nissan today unveiled the next-generation Teana together with its joint-venture partner in China, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (DFL). As the global flagship sedan for Nissan, the new Teana offers a class-above driving experience that unites comfort with agility.
The new Teana has the comfort and luxury for which its forerunners earned acclaim over the years and adds performance inspired by the DNA of the Nissan Altima. The sedan offers a refreshing and dynamic – yet comfortable – driving experience. Powered by the new QR25DE engine, which is matched with the next-generation Xtronic CVT® (Continuous Variable Transmission), the new Teana delivers both responsive acceleration and excellent fuel economy. A newly-designed rear multi-link suspension system endows Teana with impressive maneuverability.
Teana was crafted using a “Suggestive Aura” approach that features a fresh and prominent design with a provocative and seductive aura. Designers were able to maximize the car’s passenger space without compromising the interior’s sporty layout thanks to the unique lines extending from the instrument panel to the door trim line.
The new Teana provides a confidence-inspiring driving feel through several technical innovations and signature safety features. For example, next-generation Safety Shield technologies are enabled through an enhanced, redesigned rear view monitor camera. Additionally, passenger comfort is augmented by zero gravity-inspired seats with an articulated shape that supports a relaxed “neutral posture” found in a weightless environment, thereby minimizing fatigue over long periods behind the wheel.
“The new Teana is the ambassador of what the Nissan brand stands for: quality, style and innovation that excites,” said Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer at Teana’s global unveiling ceremony in Guangzhou. “Not only does Teana meet the needs and desires of our customers, but we also expect it will strengthen our position in the demanding luxury sedan segment.”
A global success since its launch in 2003, Teana has achieved sales of one million units across 74 countries and regions. Teana for the Chinese market will be produced at Dongfeng Nissan’s state-of-the-art plant in Xiangyang, Hubei province, China.
