Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for May 2013.

1. Production
Nissan’s global production in May decreased 11.4% year-on-year to 385,390 units.

Production in Japan was down 30.0% year-on-year to 58,960 units, mainly due to the impact of decreased production at Nissan Motor Kyushu and Nissan Shatai Kyushu caused by problems with a stamping machine at Nissan Motor Kyushu.

Production outside of Japan decreased 7.0% year-on-year to 326,430 units.

In the U.S., production increased 24.2% year-on-year to 70,352 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Altima and Pathfinder.

In Mexico, production decreased 5.9% year-on-year to 57,177 units.

In the U.K., production was down 9.2% year-on-year to 44,815 units.

In Spain, production decreased 11.4% year-on-year to 12,418 units.

In China, production decreased 10.6% year-on-year to 95,252 units.

Production in other regions decreased 9.6% year-on-year to 46,416 units.

2. Sales
Global sales increased 0.9% year-on-year to 408,747 units, marking an all-time record for the month of May.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 40,521 units in Japan, a decline of 8.6% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in May increased 0.9% year-on-year to 33,217 units.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan decreased 36.0% year-on-year to 7,304 units.

Sales outside of Japan increased 2.1% year-on-year to 368,226 units, marking an all-time record for the month of May.

Sales in the U.S. increased 24.7% year-on-year to 114,457 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Altima, Sentra, Pathfinder, Rogue and Nissan LEAF, marking an all-time record for the month of May.

In Europe, sales declined 0.9% year-on-year to 51,891 units.

In China, sales increased 2.0% year-on-year to 102,990 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Teana and Sylphy.

Sales in other regions decreased 9.9% year-on-year to 68,617 units.

3. Japan Exports
Nissan’s exports in May decreased 39.9% year-on-year to 28,783 units.

Exports to North America decreased 30.9% year-on-year to 19,463 units.

Exports to Europe decreased 78.7% year-on-year to 1,288 units.
