At a function held in Port Elizabeth at the end of June, BLG Logistics of South Africa (Pty) Ltd won the General Motors South Africa (GMSA) award as overall Supplier of the Year for 2012. BLG manages GMSA’s Vehicle Conversion and Distribution Centre based in Markman Township.

For the first time in history, a logistics supplier has been recognised as the top supplier for GMSA. Speaking at the awards, GMSA Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain John Astbury said, “BLG’s flexibility to cater for our ever-changing needs is outstanding. This was demonstrated on many occasions during 2012 where there was a high expectation from the GMSA team due to increased yard inventory. Their sense of urgency and professionalism around general yard activities is of a high standard.”

In addition to the Supplier of the Year 17 out of around 237 local suppliers received recognition in various categories for excellent support. BLG was one of them and received the second award in the category “logistics and services”.
