Automotive companies in the UK are being challenged to make cars more energy efficient and help change the way people drive by coming up with new engine technologies, Business Secretary Vince Cable has announced. The government is offering £75m (US$120m) to encourage new technology, which will also help safeguard up to 30,000 engine production jobs, keeping the UK in competition for engine design and enable businesses to manufacture and test low carbon technologies.
