At the Volkswagen factory in Bratislava the 100,000th ŠKODA Citigo rolled off the production line. The brand’s first city car was launched at the end of 2011, and has enjoyed a successful market presence ever since. The model woos with its generous space, smart solutions, low fuel consumption, high level of safety, perfect handling, neat design, and it is great value for money. 2013 has seen sales increase by 51 percent.

“The 100,000 Citigos produced since 2011 show how well our ‘little car’ is doing in the market,” says Werner Eichhorn, ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and Marketing. “With the Citigo, launched almost three years ago, we started the biggest model offensive our company has ever experienced. Since then, our smart minicar has enriched the growing city car segment and attracted new customers to the brand. The Citigo strengthens our position within the European market and we’re really pleased with our model,” says Eichhorn.

The ŠKODA Citigo is the perfect car for the city: compact, yet at the same time spacious, economical and agile, attractive, safe and clever. “The Citigo offers all of ŠKODA’s values in the smallest of spaces,” says Eichhorn. This combination has been very well received by customers: in 2013, sales of these nippy little cars increased by a solid 51% to 45,000 vehicles.

With its compact size, (3.56 m long, 1.64 m wide and 1.48 m tall) the ŠKODA Citigo provides perfect handling. At the same time, the model captivates with its ample space which is so typical of ŠKODA’s vehicles.

Numerous clever concepts make the Citgo a real ‘Simply Clever’ car. With several storage compartments and nets, hooks as well as its spacious boot – this car is extremely practical. And exceptionally safe: As the first mini car, the Citigo, together with its sister models from the Volkswagen Group, received the best possible rating of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test.

The ŠKODA Citigo is, in addition, one of the most environmentally-friendly city cars on the market. It has a 1.0 MPI three-cylinder engine, and is available with a 44 kW/60 PS or a 55 kW/75 PS engine. Each engine can be combined with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a semi-automatic ASG transmission. The 1.0 MPI/44 kW Citigo Green tec has a combined fuel consumption of just 4.1 l/100 km and only emits 95 g CO2 per km.

Since October 2012 the city car has also been available with a CNG engine. The ŠKODA Citigo G-TEC uses just 4.4 m³ (2.9 kg) of CNG per 100 km, with a CO2 output of only 79 g/km. This makes the Citigo G-TEC the most environmentally-friendly ŠKODA available. To date, ŠKODA has delivered a total of over 1,900 vehicles to customers, of which 1,300 were sold in 2013 alone. Last year, one record-breaking journey in particular raised the Citigo G-TEC’s profile: taking 5 days, Austrian fuel-saving champion Gerhard Plattner drove at an average fuel consumption of 2.39 kg CNG/100 km from Vicenza (Italy) to Stockholm (Sweden).

At the beginning of May, the Czech manufacturer introduced a particularly emotional and sporty Citigo edition. The ŠKODA Citigo Monte Carlo launched in a luscious rally design with a wealth of sporty details. Amongst other things, it boasts lowered sports suspension, striking 16-inch alloy wheels, front spoiler with integrated fog lights, a black radiator grille, rear-spoiler and back panel with integrated diffuser. The interior also carries on the theme, featuring a 3-spoke sports steering wheel, black roof lining, a black interior finish and seat covers in Monte Carlo design.

Since its launch, the ŠKODA Citigo has won numerous car awards both at home and abroad. These include, amongst others, ‘Car of The Year 2012 in the Czech Republic’, ‘Company Car of the Year’ and ‘Internet Car of the Year’ at the Fleet Awards.
