Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for April 2014.
1. Production
Nissan’s global production in April increased 5.4% year-on-year to 418,124 units, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
Production in Japan decreased 18.0% year-on-year to 61,440 units. This is mainly due to the shift of production of Rogue to the United States as part of Nissan’s broader strategy to localize production.
Production outside of Japan increased 10.8% year-on-year to 356,684 units, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
In the U.S., production increased 22.2% year-on-year to 77,877 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Rogue, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
In Mexico, production increased 4.6% year-on-year to 60,928 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Sentra, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
In the U.K., production increased 27.4% year-on-year to 44,152 units, mainly due to higher demand for the Note and the new Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
In Spain, production decreased 5.8% year-on-year to 11,988 units.
In China, production increased 7.5% year-on-year to 114,793 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new X-Trail and the Sylphy series, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
Production in other regions increased 2.9% year-on-year to 46,946 units.
2. Sales
Global sales in April increased 12.6% year-on-year to 410,264 units, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 40,191 units in Japan, up 7.1% year-on-year.
In Japan, vehicle registrations in April decreased 20.9% year-on-year to 23,590 units.
Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 114.8% year-on-year to 16,601 units, mainly due to strong sales of the Nissan DAYZ series. Mini-vehicle sales were an all-time record for the month of April.
Sales outside of Japan increased 13.2% year-on-year to 370,073 units, marking an all-time record for the month of April.
Sales in the U.S. increased 18.3% year-on-year to 103,934 units, an all-time sales record for the month of April, mainly due to higher demand for the Sentra, the new Rogue and Altima.
Sales in Mexico decreased 7.4% year-on-year to 19,605 units. Nonetheless, Nissan has been the sales leader in Mexico for 59 consecutive months.
In Europe, sales increased 17.8% year-on-year to 51,510 units, mainly due to solid sales of the Note and the Almera in Russia.
In China, sales were up 14.7% year-on-year to 118,543 units, marking an all-time record for the month of April, mainly due to increased demand for the Sylphy series, the new X-Trail and Venucia-brand models.
Sales in other regions increased 5.2% year-on-year to 65,897 units, mainly due to increased sales for the new Datsun GO released in India in March.
3. Japan Exports
Nissan’s exports in April decreased 24.3% year-on-year to 34,059 units.
