Before driverless cars can be driven on roads for real, it is vital that they are tested in real-world environments. While driverless car trials in the US have been in testing for months now, with Ann Arbor acting as the test track for autonomous testing, the UK has proven to be a little behind in this area.
Despite this, a recent announcement has suggested that the UK is facing developments in the autonomous car field. In the recent Autumn Statement delivered by the UK’s Chancellor, George Osborne, the importance of the UK becoming a world centre for testing and development of this new technology was noted, encouraging automotive players to innovate in the UK’s autonomous car development.
