Daimler’s annual press conference intensifies autonomous future

Dieter Zetsche describes autonomy as one of the most exciting topics in the industry

Autonomous driving functions have the potential to make mobility optimally safe and sustainable in the future, and every forward-looking OEM is currently working towards a future autonomous development plan.

At Daimler’s annual press conference on 5 February 2015, in which the OEM reviewed the past financial year, the subject of autonomy was referenced regularly with Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, describing it as one of the most exciting topics in the industry. In fact, Daimler has been working on autonomous technology since the early 1990s, but Zetsche explains that its achievements to date with autonomous driving provide only a vague idea of what is possible in the future.
