Government intervention may bring transportation system into 21st century

DOT secretary Anthony Foxx believes that by 2045 transit systems will be so backed up that drivers will wonder not just when they will get to work, but if they will get there at all

By 2025 there will be two times the number of cars on US public roadways that there are today, and the cost of traffic congestion throughout the major cities in the world is forecast to rise exponentially with the combined annual cost of traffic gridlock in Europe and the US due to soar by 50% to US$293.1bn by 2030.
