Nissan has today announced that Nissan achieved a record market share in Europe of 4.1% in fiscal year 2014, an increase of 0.3 percentage points from its 2013 market share of 3.8%. 2014 marks the fifth consecutive year of market share growth and an over 50% increase from 2009 levels of 2.7%. Together with the Datsun brand, market share is 4.3%.

Nissan with Datsun recorded European best-ever sales of 740,640 vehicles in FY2014, an increase of 11.5% from 2013 sales, with March sales totalling 98,979, and increase of 3.7% from the previous year. Nissan’s product onslaught has taken its European car production to record levels, with the company entering a new fiscal year with the strongest and most cohesive line-up in its history.

Nissan was the best-selling Asian brand in fiscal year 2014 in over five markets including the UK, Spain and France, with European wide sales closing the gap on the nearest Asian rival brand by 0.42%.

The brand’s European sales were bolstered by the launch of nine vehicles in the outgoing fiscal year, including the all-new Pulsar, which is built in Barcelona and returned Nissan into the C-segment.

The pioneering Nissan Qashqai crossover continues to go from strength to strength with more than 240,000 customers in FY2014 choosing its style, efficiency and advanced technologies such as the Safety Shield.

The expansion of Nissan’s electric vehicle line-is paying great dividends.  Nissan is leading the way in important new technologies – with more to come in 2015 both in electric cars and in autonomous driving vehicles, the future of transportation.

The Nissan LEAF continues to lead the electric vehicle segment globally and sold more than 16,000 cars in Europe this outgoing fiscal year – more than a 28% increase compared to 2013. The Nissan LEAF is the best-selling electric passenger car ever, both in Europe and globally, with 97% of owners saying they would recommend it.

Market share increases were recorded in major European markets in FY14, -UK, Germany, Italy and Spain. Notably, in Russia, with a decrease in TIV of 17.8%, Nissan increased its market share by 10.6% year on year.
