During the conference held at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Hannover, around 100 representatives of the European Volkswagen/Audi dealer association, the European Dealer Council (EDC), were informed about the development of the brand and the production site. In addition, future market and product strategies were discussed. At the congress Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, Andreas Renschler, Member of the Board of Management responsible for Commercial Vehicles at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, and Dr. Eckhard Scholz, CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand, gave their views on current developments and explained the company’s plans.

At the new Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles customer centre Matthias Müller, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, told the congress participants from 20 countries: “The customers affected by the diesel issue have top priority for us: we want to and will offer them solutions for their vehicles as soon as possible. For this task, we are also counting on our dealers in Europe. They are currently doing excellent work. The Volkswagen Group will do its utmost to give its dealers as much support as possible in the coming months.”

Andreas Renschler, Member of the Board of Management responsible for Commercial Vehicles at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft said: “Our dealers are an important success factor for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles – also and especially in turbulent times. No one understands the needs of our customers better than they do. This is why they also play a decisive role in the new corporate strategy we are embarking on with the brand.”

Dr. Eckhard Scholz, CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, told the members of the EDC: “Our customers are the most important thing that we have. There are long-standing ties between them, the products and the brand that are characterised by trust and reliability. This is why we must work hard to ensure that this important asset does not change. In view of the changed basic conditions, this is a demanding task, but one that can be solved.” The recent accolades “International Van of the Year Award” and “Auto Trophy”, which Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has won for the sixth generation of the T-range, are a good start. “We are particularly pleased to receive these awards at the present point in time and we see them as signal and chance at the same time”, Scholz continued.

Dr. Matti Pörhö, Director of the EDC, said: “The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand and business with commercial customers are of fundamental importance for the dealers. The current emissions issue confronts both the manufacturer and the dealers with great challenges. But I am convinced that together we will master the situation. In this situation, we can rely on close and trusting cooperation with the brand and also on first-class products.” And he said that now is the time to look forward and to focus joint activities even more strongly on the customers and their needs.
