2016 saw oil prices dip to their lowest in 13 years, with Brent Crude, a widely used benchmark, sinking below US$28 a barrel in January. Fleets and owner-operators have benefited from low fuel prices, but the decline has made conditions uncomfortable for the natural gas (NG) sector. Whilst the technologies enabled by suppliers such as Westport boast greener credentials, they come with added costs that can prove particularly burdensome when reliable, time-tested options are so cheaply available.
