Velodyne’s 3D LiDAR gives eyes to autonomous cars

California start-up Velodyne LiDAR has been grabbing headline space with its new technology, which could prove a game changer in the rise of autonomous vehicles. Its claim to fame today stems from its high performance automotive 3D LiDAR sensors, but the company is a product of the various experiences of founder David Hall. Automotive World caught up with Mike Jellen, Velodyne's President and Chief Operating Officer, to hear more about the convergence of industry and technology that position Velodyne where it is today.
