Nissan’s new single cab opens multiple opportunities in light trucks

Nissan has designated 2016 as 'Year of the Truck'. Phil O’Connor, Director and Chief Marketing Manager of Nissan North America, speaks to Megan Lampinen about what to expect

The US light truck market continues to power ahead, with both volumes and prices on the rise. The result is a lucrative segment for those OEMs that can offer customers what they want. For years the local brands have dominated, but others are also keen to establish a foothold.

"The truck market in the US really is exploding," commented Phil O’Connor, Director and Chief Marketing Manager of Nissan North America. Nissan has been making steady inroads in the segment over the past few years and is now pulling out the big guns. It has dubbed 2016 the Year of the Truck. Nissan classifies SUVs in its truck numbers, along with mid-size and full-size pick-ups.
