Despite Class 8 order bump, caution prevails

Oliver Dixon reflects upon the implications of August’s Class 8 order data

ACT’s provisional Class 8 order data for August pointed to a continued softness within the North American truck market. At 14,200 net orders, August was off year-on-year by 28.9% but the month represented a 35.2% uptick over July. Placed in a broader historical context, August 2016 represented the worst order intake for the month since 2010.
