India’s emission norms upgrade junks US$2bn of CV inventory

India’s Supreme Court ruling banning the sale of BS III vehicles from 1 April has hit CV and 2-wheeler OEMs hard. By Radhe Shyam

A surprise decision in the upgrading of vehicle emissions standards in India has left a section of the automotive industry – mainly truck and two-wheeler OEMs – saddled with an outdated inventory of now unsaleable vehicles worth nearly US$2bn.
