ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ON), driving energy efficient innovations, will be hosting multiple presentations and innovative demos related to the latest automotive applications at this year’s SAE World Congress being held in Detroit, Michigan. The company’s broad, across-voltage range of semiconductor technologies address multiple areas of vehicle design and technology including fuel economy and emissions reduction, active safety and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), vehicle electrification, body electronics, connectivity, power management and lighting.
Topics and technologies being covered by ON Semiconductor speakers at the event include vehicle sensing using Smart Passive Sensors, power MOSFET design considerations for automotive systems, substrate technologies for power modules, and smart power implementations using eFuse technology. Hans Stork, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at ON Semiconductor will also join the Tech Hub on Tuesday, April 4th at 4:30pm ET to discuss “Is Moore’s Law Dead or on Life Support?”
Live booth demonstrations will give visitors a clear understanding of ON Semiconductor’s latest devices and systems for vehicle system applications. Among these will be the company’s recently launched Modular Automotive Reference System (MARS) which optimises the development phase of automotive imaging systems by providing a ready-to-use, compact form-factor camera. MARS enables users to reconfigure the camera with different lenses, image sensors, image signal processors (ISPs) and communication protocols for rapid prototyping and efficient design. The system can be used for automotive camera applications including ADAS, surround and rear viewing systems and in-cabin cameras. Other demos will include eFuse wire reduction and high current solutions, battery-free wireless sensors for automotive seating, on-board charging and a pixel tail light demo.
ON Semiconductor is also announcing the new NBA3N series of AEC-Q100 qualified, automotive Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) drivers and receivers for low power, high data rate applications. The NBA3N011S and NBA3N012C are ideally suited for use in advanced headlamp designs, where the reliable transmission of increasing amounts of data between an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the headlamp unit are needed. ON Semiconductor’s LVDS drivers provide a high performance solution with significantly more bandwidth versus controller area network (CAN) approaches; they also achieve a high degree of noise immunity – crucial for reliable operation in challenging automotive environments.
