Given the global nature of the automotive industry, Tier 1 suppliers need to consider that the components and systems shipped to OEMs will be sold in various climates and abide by numerous regulations.

In many cases, systems shipped around the world will operate in favourable conditions and will need to meet common standards for fuel economy and CO2 emissions. However, they also need to perform in markets where conditions are less favourable. Rather than a challenge that hinders its operations, Tier 1 powertrain specialist BorgWarner sees this as an opportunity.
