Daimler goes all in with two-pronged approach for China’s NEV market

Michael Nash talks to Daimler’s Valerie Wehner about two investments that are aimed at cementing the company’s strong position and future in the Chinese market

The world’s biggest economy is the world’s biggest producer of cars. Numerous studies show that China is also the world’s largest emitter of CO2 emissions, taking a total share of around 28% during 2016.

But Chinese officials are eager to show their enthusiasm for curbing emissions, and have recently vowed to strengthen the country’s commitment to the Paris agreement. This came shortly after President Donald Trump announced that the US would no longer be involved unless it could secure “a deal that is fair.”
