We are by now becoming accustomed – and many would argue resigned – to the observation that Brexit is anything but simple. This is hardly surprising; it is hard to think of a parallel, in modern economic history, of another globally significant and fully developed economy choosing unilaterally to withdraw from its closest and largest trading partner. And yet this is what the UK is doing.
