Urbanisation, connected technologies and changing concepts of ownership are reshaping transportation today. However, most cities are restricted by current infrastructure and limited funding. Transport demand management (TDM) is taking on an increasingly important role as the focus shifts to helping individuals effectively use the current infrastructure - whether that's for driving, ride-sharing, walking, biking or taking public transport. Supporters believe that this approach is cost-effective in guiding the design of transportation and physical infrastructure, and naturally encouraging alternatives to driving alone. The result is a better balanced transport system.
