European cities are increasingly turning to low-emission zones (LEZs) to combat emissions and congestion concerns. In November alone, Paris introduced six new zones in Toulouse, Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Maine-et-Loire, Vendée and Gers. To enter these green zones, drivers are required to have a special environmental sticker or badge on their car. If they enter without, they face stiff penalties.
