Underinvestment in quality comes at a cost

Recent studies point to improvements in overall vehicle reliability and owner satisfaction, but recall rates remain a serious concern. In the US alone, vehicle manufacturers issued around 300 recalls in 2016, covering 30 million vehicles. That represents about 20% of the US car parc, according to AlixPartners' estimates, and makes 2016 a record year both for the number of notices issued and the number of vehicles involved.
