How CES, tourists and good weather turned Vegas into the ideal test bed

The city of Las Vegas has emerged as one of the front runners in the race towards smart mobility. A designated Innovation District downtown currently serves as a proving ground for emerging technologies, including a self-driving, all-electric shuttle bus and traffic lights that talk directly to cars. Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) projects promise not only improved road safety but also less congestion and reduced emissions. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval are both vocal supporters of autonomous driving and electrification, and believe this city has what it takes to lead the industry into the future of mobility. Other government and industry players echo that optimism.
