Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) have the potential to save thousands of lives out on public roads. With the path to autonomy mired by testing crashes and fatalities, there are many in the automotive industry who believe that partial automation via ADAS could play a significant role in convincing the public that autonomous drive technology is safe and reliable. In addition, the complexity of reaching Level 4 and 5 autonomy, along with the lengthy proposed timescales within which these goals will be achieved, has created a huge business case for those with the expertise to play in this space.
