Continental’s eHorizon works with crowd-sourced data to make maps from the likes of HERE and TomTom even more useful, as it prepares for automation. By Xavier Boucherat

By this stage, traditional mapping companies such as HERE and TomTom recognise that maps will be essential for autonomous driving. But the task of producing high definition (HD) maps is an enormous one. This has created some interesting interplay between these companies and suppliers.
