You don’t need V2X for autonomous vehicles—but it helps

According to Japan’s National Police Agency, road traffic incidents at intersections account for around 40% of the collisions in that country that result in injury or death. For this reason, in 2015, Toyota introduced Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), a safety package launched as part of a Japan-specific initiative aimed at cutting intersection collisions.
