Urban AV development needs to be evolutionary, not revolutionary

Practically every city in the world faces a monumental challenge: reshape urban mobility or be overwhelmed by exponentially increasing congestion. Understandably, implementing such a change is easier said than done.

There are dozens of considerations these cities must make to cater for the future of mobility, ranging from how best to switch out fossil fuel for electric to how to build effective transit routes powered by connectivity. But while these solutions are already finding their feet in urban centres, autonomy is a technology which lies largely in wait. In those cities looking to jump the gun, however, there lies an opportunity for the automotive industry.
