Hybrid buses can plug the gap between diesel and electric

If a fully electric bus is out of the question, a full hybrid can prove a useful alternative. By Freddie Holmes

Just like the passenger car sector, heavy-duty (HD) vehicles are also primed to go electric. But with long distance driving still a challenge, experts see a valid argument for hybrid powertrains in applications where charging infrastructure is lacking. Interest can be seen most clearly in the bus sector, where many European fleets have already felt the benefit for more than a decade.
