Truck lightweighting is deprioritised as decarbonisation arrives

Cat Dow explores some of the complexities of lightweighting larger vehicles

It is said that a 10% reduction weight of a truck is equivalent to approximately a 6-8% increase in fuel economy. But lightweighting trucks isn’t an exercise in increased fuel economy. With decarbonisation, it is arguably no longer a priority.
