In-cabin monitoring to set a new safety bar

When it comes to smart vehicle sensing technology, considerable attention is directed to helping cars better detect what is going on around them. Is the road ahead slippery with ice? Is a pedestrian standing in a blind spot? But equally important is the ability to detect what’s going on inside the vehicle with the occupants. Is the driver falling asleep? Has someone vomited in the back of the taxi? This sort of in-cabin insight becomes increasingly important as the driver is eventually replaced by a computer.
