Yamanashi Hydrogen Company, Inc. (Headquarters: Kofu, Yamanashi, Representative Director and President: Hiroki Nakazawa, hereinafter YHC) and Suzuki Motor Corporation (Headquarters: Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Representative Director and President: Toshihiro Suzuki, hereinafter Suzuki) have announced that the project titled “Study on Conformity with Demonstration Requirements for Hydrogen Technology to Achieve Efficient Thermal Operation in Indian Factories (Haryana, India)” has been proposed and adopted as a feasibility study for “FY2022 International Demonstration Project on Japan’s Energy Efficiency Technologies (Surveys of the Suitability of Demonstration Requirements)”, a public invitation by Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
The purpose of the project is to consider feasibility of structuring optimal thermal operation system in the plants through manufacturing hydrogen with Power-to-Gas (P2G) system by utilizing excess electricity in India, where introduction of renewable energy is being promoted. Throughout the project, which will be held until March 2023, research on potentiality in India as well as research on volume of hydrogen demand and cost in the Manesar Plant of Maruti Suzuki India Limited* will be conducted.
Toward realizing carbon neutrality, YHC and Suzuki together will tackle the project for achieving optimal process for energy conversion in the overseas plants where fossil fuel are consumed, with Japan’s excellent water electrolysis technology in a place with different meteorological environment.
