VinFast boss shares plans for Indian and Indonesian plants

VinFast’s Indian plant will become operational in June 2025, with its plant in Indonesia set to follow in October. By Stewart Burnett

Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast plans to open a car assembly plant in India by the end of June and another in Indonesia in October, according to Chief Executive Pham Nhat Vuong. The move signifies a strategic shift by the automaker towards Asian markets—and away from the US—as it seeks growth opportunities outside its domestic market.
