While the global automotive market is on the road to recovery, it could be in for a rough ride in the near term. Despite all the hype, the new phenomena - green, connected and shared cars - remain marginal for now. Instead the pace is being set by traditional factors such as economic growth (or lack of it), household purchasing power, industrial policy, investment and (incremental) innovation.
