Diesel has been under the microscope for some time. In 2015, both Paris and London expressed desires to ban diesels from their city centres. Prior to this, the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) carried out a study in 2014 that found nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from some models are seven times higher than legal limits.
With the VW crisis landing yet another blow to the segment, other fuels may see some unoccupied territory up for grabs in terms of market share. But which fuels could benefit?
