Uber is mixing disintermediation, excess capacity and autonomous driving into a recipe for future mobility. From moving people within city centres to transporting goods across America's highways, the Californian company is working to shape a more effective transport ecosystem.
"We can use our network to handle all different types of mobility," Stephen Lesh, Uber Advanced Technology Group's head of Vehicle Programs, told attendees at the Autonomous Car Detroit conference hosted by Automotive Megatrends. "We haul people, food and freight. Essentially it is the same underlying technology."
