In amongst the increasingly busy motor show schedule are those shows that are still remembered many years later, made memorable by unrelated geopolitical events, unexpected announcements or products developed to meet or lead specific industry trends.
Is the 2015 Frankfurt motor show (IAA) a memorable one? Hard to say. Is it spectacular? Yes. Groundbreaking? Less so. Indeed, referring to the show’s focus not on green, alternative and disruptive technology, but on performance, luxury, SUVs and luxury SUVs, one well-connected analyst suggested to this writer that it was as if the last ten years hadn’t happened.
