Munich-based Electric Optical Systems (EOS) has been involved in the additive manufacturing industry since the technology first rose to prominence as a rapid prototyping tool in the early 1990s. The company was among the first to supply the automotive industry, when in 1990 it sold a STEREOS 400 stereolithography system to BMW. Mercedes-Benz followed suit just two years later, when the OEM acquired the world’s first STEREOS 600 system.
More than two decades later, the company’s focus has moved beyond opportunities in rapid prototyping towards industrial applications. As Fabian Krauss, Business Development Manager at EOS, explains
