New York-based Verizon Communications has purchased 576 Chevrolet Silverado Two-Mode Hybrid full-size pick-ups for its urban fleet. The models combine an internal combustion engine (Vortec 6.0-litre V8) with battery-powered electric motors to offer an EPA estimated 21mpg/22mpg (city/highway) - that’s a 40% improvement compared to some conventional full-size pick-ups.
