Registrations of new passenger cars in the Czech Republic declined in September to 12,475 units. Comparatively, the country’s automotive industry had accounted for 12,978 units in September 2011.
According to figures published by the Czech Republic’s Car Importers Association (CIA), Skoda led the passenger car market last month, accounting for registrations of 4,020 units. This was down compared with the 4,697 cars it managed to sell last September.
Of the country’s various vehicle segments, passenger car and light commercial vehicle numbers declined year-on-year, while truck and bus numbers improved. The LCV market last month contracted from 1,167 units to 985. Sales of 187 LCVs gave Volkswagen the lead in this segment, which was an improvement on September 2011 levels of 124 units.
Truck registrations in the country rose from 763 units in September 2011 to 830 last month. The bulk of registrations came from the heavier N3 segment, comprising trucks of 12 tonnes and above. DAF Trucks dominated this segment, selling 223 trucks, up from 161 a year ago.
The bus market in the Czech Republic remained flat last month at 66 units, one unit more than what the segment had managed in the corresponding month a year earlier. As in the truck segment, the bulk of bus registrations came from the heavier M3 segment. Sales of 24 units gave SOR the lead last month, The OEM had accounted for 47 buses in September last year.
