A focus on trucks changes the hydrogen infrastructure challenge

The industry seems in agreement that any sizeable future for hydrogen mobility lies in trucking. This changes the nature of the infrastructure challenge. By Xavier Boucherat

Hydrogen mobility, and the adoption of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), has always been hampered by the infrastructure hurdle. For FCEV technology to rival that of the internal combustion engine (ICE) in a passenger car, hydrogen pumps would be needed in every location where gasoline and diesel pumps are found. This would prove a colossal undertaking, requiring enormous investment, and around which certain technical challenges still exist.
