New technology is being developed that can help to mitigate and even avoid accidents before they occur, but it is reasonable to suggest that cars will continue colliding with other cars in future. Passive safety features are in place to reduce the chances of occupant injury when the vehicle cannot avoid a collision, and remain a crucial feature for all vehicles on the road.
