No airbags, no stars, no excuses: safety pressure (finally) sends off Tsuru

Nissan has agreed to end the long run of its popular Mexican-built Tsuru model as pressure from safety advocates builds. By Megan Lampinen

Nissan has agreed to withdraw its popular Tsuru model following prolonged pressure from safety advocates. The Mexican-built model, known as the Sentra in other regions, has been one of the top sellers in Mexico for nearly 30 years and there are more than 2.4 million on the road. Nissan itself describes the vehicle as an "accessible, economical and dependable" form of mobility. Safety specialists have called it the worst performing model on the market.
