AkzoNobel investors, if not management, open to PPG courtship

US coatings specialist PPG Industries is playing an aggressive acquisition game, with a handful of purchases under its belt last year. A new target emerged early in March when the supplier made a bid for AkzoNobel, but the Dutch company is proving reluctant.
