Alcohol interlocks: a small step in politics, a giant leap in safety

Increasing the adoption of alcohol interlock systems could reduce the number of drink driving fatalities in the EU

Road safety is a major concern within the automotive industry, and companies across the board – from suppliers to OEMs and national safety organisations – are working together to reduce the number of road fatalities.

With 25% of all road deaths in the EU attributable to drink driving, many within the industry are looking to alcohol interlock systems – which prevent a vehicle from starting if the driver is over the limit – to reduce the number of deaths.
