ArcelorMittal uses Mexico to strengthen North American operations

Steel supplier targets expanded manufacturing in both Mexico and southeast US

ArcelorMittal is to meet increased demand from OEMs in Mexico with an investment of US$11.1m in its tubular facility in Monterrey. This will see the construction of a new tube mill and the installation of new processing equipment, allowing for the production of straight and formed tubes for use in seating and headrests. The investment will create 80 new jobs, and the new mill is expected to be operational by spring 2016. 40% of North American automotive manufacturing jobs are now located in Mexico.
